Our Green vision for Eastbourne
Has everyone gone green? That's what politicians of all colours desperately want us to believe these days. Many of the same people from the same parties who have overseen the destruction of our environment for decades, now want us to think its' futue is suddenly safe in their hands. Locally, those who have allowed the concreting over of Eastbourne from the South Downs to Sovereign Harbour and still champion unsustainable road building schemes and developments are trying to jump on the same green bandwagon.
Our local political history - under both Conservatives and Liberal Democrats - has been one of doing the absolute minimum at the absolute last minute. Ironically, with a natural abundance of wind, wave and solar sources of energy for example, we in Eastbourne are in pole position to be leaders on green issues, rather than reluctant followers.
Being Green is about a set of values, not a shopping list of empty promises or greenwash. The Green Party is the only Party whose policies are based on one simple principal - our future well-being depends on the future well-being of the planet we live on. Everything we do is based on ensuring a long-term and sustainable future for our environment, and therefore for ourselves too.
We all have a vital role to play in looking after our environment - including chosing people to represent us who look beyond their next short term in office. If you would like Eastbourne to have an MP and Councillors who understand the value of protecting our future for a change - not just the cost - please support support your local Eastbourne Green Party team.
