Eastbourne Green Party

the future of politics in Eastbourne

Eastbourne Green Party - putting Eastbourne together!

a vibrant local economy
We must encourage, support and promote independent local business and create a business-friendly environment while investing in our local tourist attractions. Town centre development must be innovatively designed to enhance our unique character, accessibility and quality.
true local democracy
A Green borough council will consult and inform widely on all issues of public concern as standard - not sneak around behind closed doors. We would set a new agenda for our town that looks for long-term solutions to local problems and take a forward and outward looking view to ensure Eastbourne residents receive the best possible service from their council.
prosperity without pollution
Use our abundance of natural energy resources - the wind, sea and our sunshine - with the aim of providing clean and cheap energy to our town. We would encourage a sensible and sustainable transport policy that encourages people to make the most environmentally friendly choices available.
planning for the future
Our vision for Eastbourne includes maintaining a "green belt" around Eastbourne and ensuring misguided development policies do not destroy the unique character of our town.
secure communities
We believe in real communities because thatŐs where real people live! The solution to crime and anti-social behaviour is to include, not exile. Greens believe in Community Policing rather than CCTV and would spend the millions being wasted on ID Cards nobody wants on real policing and safer communities.
public control over our services
Our public services must be run for the benefit of the public. Eastbourne people must have a real say in the running of our local schools and NHS.
transport for all
A safe, secure, reliable and affordable public transport alongside top class facilities for cyclists and pedestrians is the only way to help reduce unnecessary car journeys.
using waste as a resource
We are totally committed to serious waste reduction policies dedicated to long-term solutions that reuse and recycle all waste materials and create more local jobs - starting with the borough council! A Green borough council would see our town at the forefront of recycling initiatives rather than being dragged along reluctantly as a result of central government targets.
education for life
Greens want education to guide us on our lifelong journey, to help us change direction, to enable us to explore our whole selves. That means allowing people to move in and out of education whenever they need to. It means funding properly our schools, colleges and universities, having much smaller class sizes, scrapping tuition fees and restoring maintenance grants.
we are what we eat!
Greens will champion local food producers who take pride in what they do, treat their land and animals with respect, understand the need to conserve fish stocks and keep our traditional foods and varieties alive. We will support those who work long hours, often for little reward, to put the best local produce on your table.
